Mission is more than "Bums on seats"
OUR FIRST responsiblity is to our own area.
Jesus said
You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you shall be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, in all Judea, in Samaria, and to the furthest ends of the earth.
Mission begins where we are with the resources we have, and extends from there in ever-widening circles as God directs and provides.
We have tried to work to this principle since about 1985.
Our Mission pages reveal three basic areas of concern for Silver Street Mission.
First, we are concerned with our own area, particularly the South Marrickville precinct, which is one of the neediest areas in NSW. The fields are white and ready for harvest, and the workers are very few. You can read more here>>
To be concerned about our area without also being concerned with our Christian brothers and sisters in other churches would be unthinkable, so we also concern ourselves with our work with other churches in the area. You can read more about that here>>
Second, we are concerned with the needs in an area we have dubbed "the Devil's Triangle", because the churches seems to have abandoned it, Our particular concern is the inner city growth area known as Green Square. Read more about our concerns here>>
Finally, we have some interests in mission overseas, particularly in The Philippines (more information>>), Brazil (link to website>>) and Uganda (more information>>) (The Filipino and Ugandan work will be upgraded shortly)
